Governor Walker Celebrate Hanukah at Executive Residence in Madison

Governor Scott Walker and his family took part in a Jewish holiday tradition Monday by lighting a menorah at the Executive Residence in Madison.

Several Jewish leaders were on hand for the annual celebration.

The Governor made reference to the festival lights and its significance, regardless of faith, right now.

"I thought it's timely in the world we're living in," the Governor said. "Thinking about the need for hope and inspiration and triumph of light over darkness in times like this."

The Jewish holiday begins on a different day of the calendar every year.

It hasn't fallen in line with Christmas since 1978.

This year, the eight day festival started on Christmas Eve.
