NEW YORK - Deonte Burton's career-high 23 points helped Marquette stay close with Xavier for the entire second half, but Xavier held on for a 68-65 win that likely eliminates Marquette's chances of making the NCAA Tournament field.
Todd Mayo added 21 points for MU (17-15), while third-seeded Xavier will go on to face Creighton in the tournament semifinals Friday night.
