'Going to save lives:' Milwaukee receives $735K grant to combat opioids

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee is getting help in the fight against the opioid epidemic. The Milwaukee Health Department was awarded a $735,000 grant on Thursday, Dec. 19.

The money will go toward funding the Milwaukee Overdose Response Initiative, also called MORI.

"We're very excited that this funding came to Milwaukee, and we're going to do it right, we're going to show results, we're going to save lives."

The effort is a collaboration between the health department, fire department, and community to prevent overdoses and increase access to treatment.
