MILWAUKEE, (CBS 58) -- Giannis Antetokounmpo is breaking his silence on his time in Milwaukee, after his trade to the Miami Heat has been made official.

In a post on 'X', Giannis sending out a video reflecting on his time in Milwaukee. In the video, one of the clips saying, "No matter where I am, Milwaukee will always be my city, my team, my family."

And at the end of the video, Giannis thanks Milwaukee, with an audio recording of the Bucks draft selection of him back in 2013.

This is the first message the All-Star and former MVP has had toward Milwaukee since the news of the trade broke back on June 22.

The Milwaukee Bucks have officially announced the trade with a letter to fans Monday afternoon:

In the official trade the Bucks sent Giannis and Bobby Portis to the Miami Heat, in exchange for Tyler Herro, Kel'el Ware, Jaime Jaquez Junior, Kasparas Jakučionis, the 13th overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, which the Bucks used to select forward Nate Ament from Tennessee, and future draft considerations. 

“From delivering a championship to transforming our franchise, Giannis' impact on the Milwaukee Bucks is lasting and profound,” said Bucks owners Wes Edens, Jimmy and Dee Haslam, and Jamie Dinan. “We are incredibly grateful for what has been a remarkable and historic journey together."

Giannis is a 10-time All-Star starter and nine-time All-NBA selection, including seven times as a first team selection. As a two-time MVP, NBA Finals MVP, Defensive Player of the Year, Most Improved Player, and NBA champion, Giannis was named to the NBA Top 75th Anniversary Team.

Giannis also posting a 36-minute video today on YouTube, where he sat down with former Milwaukee Bucks broadcaster Jim Paschke, reflecting on his time with the Bucks before the trade happened. 

Giannis was not the only one involved in the trade though. The Milwaukee Bucks also showed love for teammate Bobby Portis in the trade announcement:
