Germantown police: Man in black vehicle tried to lure 7-year-old child with candy

GERMANTOWN, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Germantown police are investigating a possible child enticement that happened on Division Road, north of Mequon Road, on Thursday, Sept. 23. 

Police said around 4:30 p.m., a 7-year-old child reported that a man, approximately 50 years old, yelled to her from a vehicle asking if she wanted any candy. 

Officials say the man, described as a white male, with chin/shoulder-length blond hair, was a passenger in a black car. 

Thankfully, an adult came outside and the vehicle left southbound on Division Road. 

Police said due to the age of the victim, detailed information regarding this incident was limited.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the incident in order to obtain a more detailed description of the suspect and suspect vehicle.

If any individuals witnessed suspicious activity in the area or captured the suspect vehicle on external residential video cameras in the area, you're encouraged to contact the Germantown Police Department. 

Meantime, Germantown police would like to remind parents that it’s important to have conversations with their children about not interacting with strangers. Children should be encouraged to check first with their parents or a trusted adult before interacting with an unfamiliar individual.
