German Fest cancels 40th lakefront celebration due to COVID-19 crisis

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Another Milwaukee ethnic festival has fallen victim to the coronavirus.
On Friday, German Fest organizers announced that this summer's celebration has been canceled -- a first in the festival's 40-year history.
German Fest was scheduled from July 24-26.
In a statement, festival president Eric Radue said that the cancellation was the "only responsible option."
Since the pandemic arrived, Milwaukee has seen Summerfest, PrideFest and Polish Fest postponed.
Festa Italiana has been canceled.
