MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- In a concerted effort to bring holiday cheer to low-income elderly residents, Thanksgiving meals are being distributed throughout Southeast Wisconsin, with Oak Creek East Middle School serving as a starting point for the widespread deliveries.

This act of kindness is now in its 37th year and is spearheaded by Community Projects for Seniors.

Executive Director Jeffery Hansen emphasized the importance of these deliveries, telling CBS 58, "There are so many people alone and have nobody. If we can brighten up their day and make them feel like we care about them -- that's what we're doing."

All meals and supplies have been funded by Community Projects for Seniors.

The group is already preparing for what comes next following a successful round of Thanksgiving meal deliveries, and that is to prepare for a similar effort on Christmas.

Anyone interested in volunteering, including one-hour shifts, are encouraged to visit CPForSeniors.org for more details.
