Gas Prices Begin Year Lower Than One Year Ago

As we begin 2016, the price of a gallon of gasoline in the Milwaukee area is more than 10 cents lower than it was at this time in 2015,that despite a 9 cent increase that has occurred over the past month.   According to GasBuddy’s survey of 615 gas outlets in Milwaukee, the price of a gallon of gasoline increased 2.2 cents last week and averages $1.93.  Nationally, the average price of a gallon of gasoline is $1.99.

"The national average at $1.99 is a great way to begin 2016, and over twenty cents lower than where we started 2015,” said Patrick DeHaan, GasBuddy senior petroleum analyst. “The good news is that we could see even more price drops before the seasonal lift that will likely begin as we push towards Spring,” he said.
