Gallardo returns to top form as Brewers take series from Pirates

PITTSBURGH - in a game with little margin for error, Yovani Gallardo returned to the top of his game.

Gallardo threw seven shutout innings, getting two key outs with the bases loaded in the seventh, and struck out eight in the Brewers' 1-0 win at PNC Park Sunday.

With the win, the Brewers took two of three from the Pirates in the weekend series. Milwaukee has won 86 games against Pittsburgh since 2007.

Jonathan Lucroy scored the game's only run on a groundout from Aramis Ramirez. That run was all Gallardo and the Brewers bullpen would need. Francisco Rodriguez got four outs to record his 19th save.

The Brewers have Monday off before taking on the Mets Tuesday through Thursday. They have maintained a five game lead on the Cardinals in the National League Central.
