Meet CBS 58’s Pet of the Week: Nyla
BROOKFIELD, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Halloween is still a couple weeks away, but children with special needs got to dress up and go trick-or-treating on Sunday, Oct. 15.
Variety, which is a children's charity, partnered up with Stein's Garden Centers to put on FrankenSTEIN Fest for the 7th year in a row.
This year's theme was Star Wars.
"It's just an incredible opportunity for our kids with physical and developmental disabilities to really get the full aspect of trick-or-treating with peers of their own, and families," said Kate Kenney, Executive Director with Varity of Wisconsin.
"These programs allow her to be herself, Yes, she can trick-or-treat, but this is a time that she can be friends like her and just be herself and have fun doing it. Variety is a special place for our family, and it just helps a lot of kids," said Monica Macleod, parent of a trick-or-treater at this event.
Money raised at the event helps these families in many ways, including building adaptive bikes for kids.
