FOUND: Police find missing infant in West Branch, Iowa

BELOIT -- Beloit police reported that six-day-old Kayden Powell has been found safe in West Branch, Iowa. He was found alive in a tote bag at a gas station near Interstate 80.

Police found Kayden outside of a gas station in West Branch, Iowa around 10:15 a.m. on February 7th. He was found inside a tote bag swaddled in blankets. Emergency medical personnel says Kayden appears to be in excellent health.

We're told the police investigation into this case is ongoing, and police intend to get answers as to how Kayden went missing. They also say their main priority is to reunite the Kayden with his family.

Police say Kayden's mother, 18-year-old Brianna Marshall, called 911 around 4:30 a.m. Thursday to report her son, born February 1, as missing.

She told authorities he was taken out of his crib at a home in the 800 block of Homeland Court where they were both sleeping.

Investigators have focused on Kristen Smith, Marshall's half-sister. Smith was arrested in Iowa on an unrelated warrant, and was questioned about Kayden's disappearance. Police gave no indication as to whether Smith is still a suspect.
