Former Milwaukee Health Commissioner Bevan Baker releases statement on lead crisis investigation

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Former Milwaukee Health Commissioner Bevan Baker says he’s concerned about the health and safety of children in Milwaukee.

In a statement released Tuesday, he says in part,

“It is important to note that there is an ongoing investigation to ask the tough questions, follow the facts wherever they lead, and get children the care they need. This is exactly what I want to see happen.”

The statement goes on to say that once the investigation is complete he believes it will show he acted in the best interests of residents and did not do anything wrong.

Baker resigned in January after it was revealed the health department failed to notify families of children with elevated lead levels.
