FOND DU LAC COUNTY (CBS 58) – Friends of a 27-year-old found dead on the shores of Lake Winnebago say she was celebrating New Year's Eve with a group at Lake Winnebago.
Lindsey Klima's friends say she was the nicest person in the world and a great mother to her 4-year-old daughter. According to the Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office, Klima left the party at an ice shanty by herself around 1:30 a.m. on Monday. She was going to walk 100 yards to the south shore but never came back.
Authorities believe Klima may have run into rocks near the shore.
"It looks like she had difficulty up off the ice onto the shoreline through those rocks" Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office captain Ryan Waldschmidt said. "It's possible she sustained a leg or knee injury. It looks just to be a tragic accident and a tragic ending to a New Year's celebration."
An autopsy is scheduled to see if Klima suffered any other injuries.
