Fond du Lac school shooting threat suspect to seek lower bail
FOND DU LAC, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A Fond du Lac man behind bars on a $1 million cash bond will appear in court Friday to fight for a lower bail.
Darrell Scott was arrested for his third OWI, but is now accused of making a school shooting threat.
District Attorney Eric Toney charged Scott for making terrorist threats with use of a dangerous weapon.
Scott was arrested last week during a traffic stop.
According to a criminal complaint, his breath alcohol content was over the legal limit, and he was immediately taken to Waupun Hospital to get his blood drawn. A deputy said Scott started making repeated threats, saying he was going to buy an assault rifle and shoot up a school.
According to the deputy, Scott said, "I think about shooting up a school every day."
No specific target was mentioned.
"Although someone might not have that firearm, if they are acknowledging they don't have one but are laying out a plan in which they're going to obtain one, that's something that we are going to take seriously," said Toney.
Scott will appear in court Friday afternoon for a preliminary hearing and the court is expected to hear his motion to modify his bail.
Scott faces up to nine years in prison and a maximum fine of $13,000.
