Fond du Lac man sentenced to 25 years in prison for sexual assault of children

FOND DU LAC, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Fond du Lac County District Attorney announced the sentencing for a sexul assault suspect on Tuesday.

Thomas Stuewer has been sentenced to 25 years of initial prison confinement and 15 years of extended supervision after he was convicted of First Degree Sexual Assault of a Child.

According to the criminal complaint, Stuewer allegedly sexually assaulted a 6-year-old girl in the summer of 2012. Another girl, 7, came forward and said that in the summer of 2010, she was sexually assaulted by Stuewer who was supposed to be watching her while her mom went to work. A third victim also said that Stuewer sexually assaulted her while he was babysitting in 2012.

“There is no amount of prison time or punishment that can remove the trauma a survivor experiences from a sexual assault but strong sentences are necessary to protect the children in our community. I applaud Judge Grimm and the law enforcement officers that investigated Stuewer for standing up for those whose voice is often least heard," said District Attorney Eric Toney.
