FOND DU LAC, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Fond Du Lac Police Department arrested a 51-year-old woman after an investigation into the death of a 12-year-old child. 

Officers say that they responded to a local hospital on Dec. 5, 2025, following a report of a deceased 12-year-old child had been transported to the Emergency Department.

Officials launched an investigation and on Friday, Jan. 23, around 1:45 p.m. they arrested a 51-year-old woman from Fond Du Lac with a charge of child neglect causing death. 

She is currently being held in the Fond Du Lac County Jail. 

Fond Du Lac police say that at this time no other information will be released pending the filing of formal charges.
