Foley's death is a painful reminder of dangers in journalism

MILWAUKEE--The pursuit of truth and justice is a central theme for the jesuits who taught James Foley at Marquette University and it undoubtedly fed his passion for reporting from international war zones.

His death is a sobering reminder of the dangers associated with journalism, the dangers that come with keeping the rest of the world informed.

\"We need the prospective of the citizens who are going through those experiences and through those trials of war and the conflict happening. We can't get that from behind a military line,\" said Carroll University Assistant Professor Dr. Keith Zukas.

According to the Committee to Protect Journalist, at least 30 journalist have been killed this year, most caught in the crossfire, but at least nine were murdered for being reporters.  The committee reports Syria as the most dangerous place for journalists, five have died there this year, not including Foley.

CBS 58's Lila Carrera reports.
