Update: 39-year-old man dies after being shot in Racine

UPDATE: RACINE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Police are identifying a 39-year-old man who died after he was shot in the head early Sunday morning. 

It happened near De Koven Avenue and Mead Street in Racine around 3:00 a.m. Sunday. 

Vontrell Turner was taken to the hospital but later died. 

Anyone with information is asked to call Racine Police or Crime Stoppers.

RACINE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A 39-year-old man was taken by Flight for Life to a local hospital after being shot in the head.

Racine Police were called to the 1900 block of Mead around 3 a.m. Sunday for a report of a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers located a shooting victim. He was taken to a local hospital and later transported by Flight for Life.

His injury is believed to be life-threatening, police say.

No suspects are currently in custody. 

The investigation remains ongoing.

Racine Police investigators are interested in any additional information that anyone may have about this crime. Any witnesses, or citizens with information, are asked to call the Racine Police Department Investigations Unit at (262) 635-7756.
