Fisher House will open at Zablocki VA Medical Center in 2015

MILWAUKEE-Lawmakers from all branches of government and political affiliation joined Brewers Catcher Jonathan Lucroy is breaking ground on Fisher House at the Zablocki VA Medical Center.


The house will provide a place to stay free of charge for up to 16 military families on any given day.


There are 64 Fisher Houses currently in the country.


The houses are supported by a combination of public and private money, that includes donations from Brewers Community Foundation.


\"The Brewers Community Foundation harnesses the pride, passion and commitment of our fans,\" Cecilia Gore of the foundation told the crowd at the groundbreaking. \"Your mission is perfectly aligned with our desire to make life better for families in our community by focusing on health, recreation and basic needs.\"


Ken Fisher is the Chairmen and CEO of the foundation, continuing the work in the name of his uncle.


\"We've all heard some negative stories in the past few months,\" he said at the groundbreaking ceremonies on June 3rd. \"I think it's time for the American people to stop looking at what's wrong and what doesn't work and let's instead have a new attitude. Let's find what does work. Let's focus on what's positive in this nation because there's so much that's positive.\"
