First Accumulating Snowfall May Arrive This Weekend

The weather has certainly ruled news headlines this past week on a local and national level. The bitter cold has dropped down through much of the nation and plenty of snow has fallen in parts of the Great Lakes.  Here across southeast Wisconsin, we're still waiting for our first accumulating snow of the season.  That wait may soon be over as a storm glides across Wisconsin this weekend providing the chance for our first sticking snow.

A quick peek over the last five years shows that Milwaukee generally sees the first one inch of snowfall in December.  Here's a look at that data:

First 1\"+ Snowfall
2013: 11/111.2\"
2012: 12/202.8\"
2011/2012: 1/126.1\"
2010: 12/43.6\"
2009: 12/31.2\"

Our latest Precision Forecast model has about an inch or so throughout the entire viewing area starting Saturday evening and ending Sunday morning.

Be sure to tune into CBS58 this weekend as Michael Schlesinger will be keeping a close eye on the snow potential.
