Firefighter injured in roof collapse at building near 38th and Wright

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A firefighter was injured early Friday, Sept. 19 when the roof of a vacant building collapsed during a fire near the corner of 38th and Wright.
Milwaukee Fire Department officials tell CBS 58 that the call came in at 12:41 a.m. for a blaze inside a 2.5-story wood frame structure. Crews began their attack and confirmed the building was unoccupied. As conditions worsened, firefighters were ordered to retreat.
The roof later collapsed, injuring one firefighter.
Officials said the firefighter was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries and is expected to recover.
The fire was eventually brought under control. The cause is under investigation.
