Fired Wisconsin pharmacist accused of spoiling COVID-19 vaccine charged

OZAUKEE COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A former Grafton pharmacist accused of sabotaging more than 500 doses of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine has been officially charged.

Steven Brandenburg is facing one count of attempted felony criminal damage to property.

Investigators say Brandenburg intentionally took nearly 60 vials of the vaccine out of a refrigerator. He told investigators he is a conspiracy theorist and believed the vaccine was unsafe.

As of now, Brandenburg is no longer employed with Advocate Aurora in Grafton, and had his license suspended.

Brandenburg is expected in court Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 19.
