Fire that Killed 3 Children Started in Basement

SHEBOYGAN FALLS, Wis. (AP) — Investigators say they've determined a fire that killed three children at a Sheboygan Falls home started in the basement.

But, the official cause of the January fire is listed as "undetermined."

USA Today Network-Wisconsin (http://shebpr.es/1RInchT ) says a state investigative report says the blaze likely originated in a basement playroom near a sectional coach and might have been ignited by faulty electrical wiring around a ceiling light or the light bulb itself.

Eleven-year-old Natalie Martin and her 10-year-old brother, Ben, died at Children's Hospital in suburban Milwaukee. Seven-year-old Carter Maki died at a Sheboygan hospital the night of the fire Jan. 26. Nine-year-old Jenna Martin escaped the burning home and was not injured.

Authorities say the children's parents weren't home the night of the fire, but will not face any charges.
