Fire in Franklin home causes $150K in damage, no injuries

FRANKLIN, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A fire broke out in a Franklin residence’s basement early Tuesday, March 12, with the Franklin Fire Department and several neighboring agencies responding after the call was received at around 2:44 a.m.

According to a Tuesday morning release from FFD, heavy smoke was reported in the single-family home near 122nd and Belmar, with first responders managing to bring the fire under control within 35 minutes of their arrival.

All occupants and a pet were evacuated safely, as the family was alerted by a smoke detector. No injuries were reported.

The area’s lack of municipal fire hydrants necessitated support from three water tender trucks. Preliminary damage estimates are at $150,000, with the cause of the fire under investigation.
