Fire displaces four from their north side home

Milwaukee -

Four people were put out of their home due to an early morning fire.   The Milwaukee Fire Department was called to the 2-and-one-half story home at N 27th and W Locust Streets around 6:55 AM.  According to authorities, the fire began in the basement of the house and extended up into the first floor.   The four occupants were able to escape the burning home and no injuries were reported.   There were no working smoke detectors in the home.  Damage is estimated at 72-thousand dollars to the building and contents.  The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Milwaukee Fire and Police Departments.  The Red Cross was called to assist the residents of the house.
