Fire destroys garage, damages home in Fond du Lac

Photo Credit: Fond du Lac Fire/Rescue FOND DU LAC, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Fond du Lac Fire Department was called out for a detached garage fire.
It happened around 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday in the 300 block of Thomas Street.
Upon arrival, crews reported smoke and fire showing from the exterior of the garage and fire beginning to burn the single-family dwelling nearby.
Firefighters were able to extinguish both fires.
The garage was destroyed and the house sustained moderate damage and is currently uninhabitable.
The occupant was not home at the time of the fire.
There were no injuries reported.
Fond du Lac Fire and Rescue says they will be canvassing the area on Wednesday to educate individuals on the importance of working smoke detectors and fire safety.
