Fire damages 'A Family Affair Soul Food Kitchen' in Fond du Lac, cause unknown
City of Fond du Lac Fire/Rescue via Facebook FOND DU LAC, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Fond du Lac fire officials are investigating the cause of a fire that damaged a soul food restaurant on Sunday, Oct. 10.
Officials say shortly before 9 p.m., fire rescue teams were dispatched to the area of 10th and Main for the report of a smell of something burning in the area.
Upon fire crews arrival, officials noted a haze of smoke in the area and discovered it was coming from the roof of A Family Affair Soul Food Kitchen located at 417 S. Main St.
Crews entered the business, which was unoccupied at the time, and encountered heavy smoke conditions.
Officials say the fire was quickly extinguished, but it caused damage inside the business.
The business will remain closed until further notice.
Alliant Energy gas and electric divisions were called to the scene to secure both utilities, officials say.
Firefighters will be canvassing the neighborhood Monday to hand out fire safety information to nearby businesses and residents.
