Fire contained at We Energies Power Plant in Oak Creek

OAK CREEK, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A fire in a dust collector at the We Energies Power Plant was reported to the Oak Creek Dispatch Center on Monday, April 8 at around 8:40 p.m.

According to a media release from the Oak Creek Fire Department, first responders from OCFD observed smoke coming from the dust collector's exterior upon arrival. Crews entered the building and found the fire already suppressed by the facility's sprinkler system, preventing any spread to other areas.

Assistance was provided by fire departments from Franklin, South Milwaukee, Cudahy, St. Francis and Greenfield.

No injuries were reported among We Energies employees or fire personnel. Investigators are examining the cause of the fire.
