Fire at Packard Plaza Shopping Mall in Cudahy, warehouse sees extensive damage

CUDAHY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- There was a fire at the Packard Plaza Shopping Mall in Cudahy on Friday, Nov. 8. 

It happened around 1 p.m. 

According to the Cudahy Fire Department, they first saw heavy smoke and fire coming from Eddie's Liquidation Center, which is a home and furniture goods store located in the mall. The fire was found in the portion of the business that is used to make warehouse merchandise, which provided a lot of combustible material. It was upgraded to a two-alarm fire. 

The fire was brought under control within 30 minutes. 

The fire department says people were in the building during the fire, but there were no reported injuries to civilians or firefighters. 

Fire damage to the warehouse portion of the business has extensive damage, as well as heavy smoke damage near the sales floor and office. 

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
