MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Local financial advisor Tony Drake of Drake & Associates provided tips for last-minute holiday shoppers during an interview on Thursday, Dec. 14.
Stressing the importance of budgeting, Drake highlighted how sticking to a holiday budget is vital, especially amid inflation affecting gift and decoration costs. He cited a survey which indicated the average holiday spend is around $1,650, emphasizing the need for strategic spending to avoid debt cycles.
He advised creating a detailed shopping list with set budgets for each person and additional costs, which also can help prevent impulsive buys.
For online shoppers, Drake recommended using price check apps and considering local stores to save on shipping and support the community.
