Fight at Washington HS prompts police response; 31-year-old man arrested

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Police responded to Washington High School in Milwaukee late Thursday morning, Nov. 4 due to a fight involving several students.

They also say a 31-year-old man showed up and threatened students.

That man has been arrested and could face criminal charges.

Milwaukee Public Schools says the school went into lockdown.

In a statement, MPS said:

"MPS is aware of the disruptive situation earlier today at Washington High School. School leaders took swift action to address it by locking down the school building, and contacted Milwaukee Police to investigate. After clearing the scene, police determined the building was safe for learning and the school day continued without further incident. We take the safety and well-being of our students seriously and school leaders are currently discussing additional steps towards preventing future incidents like this from happening."
