WEST ALLIS, Wis. (CBS 58) -- In West Allis, a new Disaster Recovery Center is open for victims of this summer's historic flooding.

This is a place people can go to learn more about flood recovery resources and get help applying for federal assistance.

The new center will be located at the West Allis Senior Center at 7001 W. National Avenue. It's open Mondays through Saturdays, from 9 a.m.-5 p.m., through Oct. 31.

Earlier Monday, Oct. 13, the city of West Allis released some of their flooding response numbers.

They say West Allis police fielded 964 calls in the first 12 hours of the storm, which they say is 800 more than average for that period of time.

The Department of Public Works, with the help of other private haulers, has removed over 4-million pounds of debris from across the city.

Rescue crews helped save 12 adults, 10 children, and three dogs during the peak of flooding throughout West Allis.
