Milwaukee (CBS 58)--A good chunk of Milwaukee’s Third Ward will be put on ice starting today. This is the third year for the ice bars going up at the Wicked Hop, Cafe Benelux, and St. Paul Fish Market.
“Art Below Zero” out of Racine County is responsible for making this cold creation come to life. 150 blocks of ice, equivalent to some 20 tons, are what workers use for this annual attraction. It takes a whole day for the installation. Those with the project say it’s worth the wait. Each ice bar has a different theme. And each location is also raising money for local charities in town. Last year the bars were up through mid February. With the help of a cooperative Mother Nature, the hope is they’ll last much longer.
