FBI Warns of Phone Scam Targeting College Students

The FBI says Wisconsin college students are getting phone calls from people posing as FBI officials. The scammers tell students they need immediate payment for student loan debt, delinquent taxes, or parking tickets.
The scammers threaten potential victims with an arrest if immediate payment is not made. They also change the caller ID info to make it appear the call is coming from the Milwaukee FBI office.
The FBI says it will never call a civilian demanding money, so that is a clear sign the call is a scam. The agency recommends immediately hanging up on the scammer, and contacting law enforcement.
The Better Business Bureau tracks scams, and has a website dedicated to helping people recognize scams [https://www.bbb.org/scamtracker/us/].
