Favre congratulates Manning on record breaking touchdown
Former Packers quarterback Brett Favre congratulated Peyton Manning on breaking his career touchdown record last night in Denver. The prolific Manning needed three scores Sunday night to pass the Packers legend. He ended up throwing four.
Manning and his Broncos easily trounced the reeling 49ers 42-17 Sunday night. After Manning's record breaking throw, which landed in the hands of wide receiver Demaryius Thomas, the game briefly paused to allow for celebration.
Manning has now thrown 510 career touchdowns putting him two ahead of Favre. After the game, Favre tweeted, \"well deserved Peyton. Congratulations on breaking my record.\" He added the message, \"#OnTo600.\"
Favre's record stood for seven years. Before the game he had nothing but praise for Manning telling the NFL Network, \"I think the world of Peyton. I'm not surprised that he's going to break [the record].\"
Favre also admitted he has been contacted as recently as last year by an NFL team looking for a fill-in quarterback. The 45-year-old wouldn't reveal which team that was and once again affirmed he is, in fact, retired.
