Father of infant killed in triple shooting on Milwaukee’s northwest side
CBS 58 MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – Family members have identified 20-year-old Zy'Kerion Teague as one of two people who died in a triple shooting on Milwaukee’s northwest side on Saturday night, Jan 11.
Milwaukee police say the shooting happened around 6:13 p.m. on Saturday night. Police first reported a double shooting on Saturday as a 16-year-old victim was also sent to the hospital. Sunday night, police said they found another victim, a 17-year-old who died from gunshot wounds.
Lisa Wright identified herself as Teague’s grandmother. She said Teague was an energetic and loving person.
“He was the love of my life, and I was the love of his life. He loved his grandma, ever since he was a little guy,” Wright said.
Wright said Teague gave her a grandson, Zaylen.
“He was a wonderful dad, " Wright said. “He and the baby were inseparable, honestly.”
Wright said she will travel to Milwaukee this week for Teague’s funeral. She said seven years ago, another grandchild of hers died at the hands of gun violence on the streets of Milwaukee.
“I just wish Milwaukee could get these kids off these streets with these guns,” Wright said. “These young people are killing themselves, their own generation. It's so sad. So many mothers are mourning, have to bury their children, it’s unfair.”
Milwaukee police are investigating what led up to the shooting and are seeking out unknown suspect(s).
