Fatal Motorcycle Accident on Highway 33

According to the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office press release, a motorcyclist has died after hitting a deer on Monday, November 7th.

The victim is identified as Anton A. Salaks Sr. from Horicon, WI.

The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting a motorcycle crash. The caller reported the motorcyclist appeared to have hit a deer and was lying in the roadway. The driver was unconscious and severely injured.

The driver was not wearing a helmet and did not have any passengers.

The crash occurred on Highway 33 at Saddle Ridge in the Town of Pacific.

Two Columbia County Deputies were on scene within 4 minutes of the call.

Highway 33 was shut down for approximately one hour.  

According to the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office press release, “the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Portage Fire, DSH, Columbia County Medical Examiner’s Office, and Blystone’s Towing... Med Flight responded to the scene and transported the driver to UW Hospital. The motorcycle driver died later that evening from his injuries."
