Fatal Accident: 19-year-old man killed in crash near 24th & Fairmount

MILWAUKEE -- Police say a 19-year-old man was killed in a traffic accident in the 2400 block of W. Fairmount Ave. around 1:15 Saturday morning.
The man was the only person in the vehicle, which was struck broadside by another vehicle while entering an alley.
The driver of the striking vehicle did remain on the scene. Speed appears to be a factor in this incident.
The first Milwaukee police detective to arrive on scene sustained minor injuries while attempting, unsuccessfully, to rescue the deceased driver from his burning vehicle.
The detective was treated at the scene by members of the Fire Department.
