MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Nearly 10 months after a city worker was shot and killed on the job, The Milwaukee Common Council is taking up legislation aimed at keeping city employees safer.
The new safety measure would require all city workers in the field to have city-issued cell phones.
City Inspector Greg Ziggy Zyszkiewicz was murdered during an attempted carjacking last year.
His daughter says he did have a city-issued phone on him when he was killed.
"In my opinion, a cell phone isn't going to make a difference but holding criminals responsible is going to make a difference."
The cell phone requirement will be taken up by the Common Council next week.
