Family, dogs safe following New Berlin house fire
NEW BERLIN, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Nearly a dozen departments responded to a fire at a two-story home in New Berlin on Monday, Aug. 28.
Just before 6:15 a.m., the New Berlin Fire Department was called to the home on Highland Drive -- located off Racine Avenue just north of I-43.
Officials say two adults, two children and two dogs safely escaped the burning home and were able to call 911.
Firefighters from 11 departments responded to help with the scene.
One firefighter was transported to a hospital for heat exhaustion.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Responding agencies include Waukesha Fire, Kettle Moraine Fire District, Elm Grove Fire, Franklin Fire, Hales Corners Fire, Tess Corners Fire, Town of Brookfield Fire, Vernon Fire, Village of Waukesha Fire, Big Bend Fire, West Allis Fire, New Berlin Police Department, and WE Energies.
