Families Celebrated Adoption Day at Milwaukee County Children's Court

November is a month for making dreams come true for children waiting for permanent and loving families.

During an adoption day event at Milwaukee County Children's Court this morning, four families celebrated new additions including Meg and Matt Proft-Maikowski.

Meg was a foster child herself who has 13 siblings who were also adopted.

Today she and her husband are adopting two siblings.

“We would encourage anyone interested in adopting in fostering to just reach out to someone because they likely have the number. They are ready to go and they have all the information you need there are people who are just ready to jump. Join your interest and then if it doesn’t work out for you that’s okay if you thought about it you tried,” said Proft-Maikowski.

According to the Wisconsin Department of Children and Families, at any given time, as many as 8,000 children are in need of forever families in Wisconsin.
