False alarm in downtown Milwaukee River search

MILWAUKEE -- Milwaukee Fire Department officials say an emergency call of a person in the Milwaukee River downtown was a false alarm.

The Dive Rescue team was called to the river along Water Street and Wisconsin Avenue around 5 a.m. August 25 for a report of a person in the water.

The U.S. Coast Guard assisted in the search, but did not find anyone in the river.

The Milwaukee Fire Department worked with Milwaukee police and security at a building along the river and determined that the person made it out of the water on their own, according to fire officials.

Water Street and Wisconsin Avenue are back open to traffic.

CBS 58's Marshanna Hester has more.
