MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- "We pray for police reform. Reform that will change the way our people are handled and mishandled."
That call came from leaders of Milwaukee's inner city faith community Friday, April 30.
They gathered outside the Police Administration building to mark the seven-year anniversary of the fatal shooting of Dontre Hamilton in a struggle with a police officer.
"And it is deeply troubling that those who take oath to serve and protect are some of those who we are most afraid of, the police," said Reverend Marilyn Miller of Cross Lutheran Church.
Dontre Hamilton was sleeping on a bench in Red Arrow Park shortly before the 2014 shooting.
Milwaukee County Supervisor Sequanna Taylor will introduce a resolution calling for placement of a Dontre Hamilton memorial bench in that park.
