MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Sniffling, sneezing and other allergy symptoms have been the cause of much suffering in the area lately.
MinuteClinic Nurse Practitioner Patricia Chavez-Columbo discussed the challenges of treating seasonal spring allergies when she spoke to us on Friday, April 28.
She noted that over-the-counter medications fall into three categories: antihistamines, decongestants and corticosteroids. The best course of action is to start allergy medications two to four weeks before symptoms usually appear.
Chavez-Columbo also mentioned the benefits of saline sprays and nasal irrigation devices like Neti pots for symptom relief.
For those still suffering after trying over-the-counter options, virtual care appointments at MinuteClinic.com offer the possibility of prescription alternatives.
