Election today for Ald. Joe Dudzik's aldermanic seat in Milwaukee

Polls opened at 7:00 am Tuesday in the race to replace the late Ald. Joe Dudzik.  Dudzik died in a motorcycle crash in late May.  Wisconsin State Senator Tim Carpenter faces Milwaukee County Board member Mark Borkowski.  Both have served in public office for decades.  Carpenter has served in the Wisconsin State legislature since the mid-80's.  One recent note - Carpenter voted against the Bucks arena bill. He said it did not respect the open legislative process that's necessary.

Borkowski told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel said the Bucks deal is a terrible deal for the city.

Whoever wins will join the Milwaukee Common Council as it begins deliberations about the Bucks arena plan.

The winner of Tuesday's election will finish out Dudzik's term which ends in April of 2016.

Voters must remember to bring a photo ID to vote.
