Elderly couple robbed after suspect allegedly impersonates utility worker in Kenosha County

KENOSHA COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- An elderly couple was robbed after a man posing as a utility worker gained access to their home earlier this week. 

Officers were called to the residence Friday, Feb. 6, for a report of a theft that happen two days prior on Wednesday. 

An elderly couple, both in their 90s, stated that a man claiming to be with a water company came to the home and asked to come inside stating he needed to test their water. 

The couple let him in and after he left, they discovered that jewelry was missing. 

The couple described him as a younger man in his 20s or 30s, driving an unmarked white van and was wearing a reflective vest. 

While the man was inside, he checked faucets throughout the home, and the couple followed him as he did his inspection. The couple didn't leave him alone but believe that while distracted by the suspect another person entered through the front door, which was left open, to commit the robbery. 

After the suspect left, the couple discovered a jewelry box open with several items missing. 

The Kenosha County Sheriff's Office is investigating the robbery.
