GREENFIELD, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Students at Edgewood Elementary in Greenfield have made 1,000 peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and donated more than $1,400 to The Guest House in Milwaukee, which supports men experiencing homelessness, as part of the school's service learning program.
Principal Meg Boyd, second grader Loretta R. and fifth grader Ethan B. joined us on Friday, May 24 to provide some details about the school's community efforts, such as how the school recently visited Southpointe Nursing Home to play bingo with residents.
Service learning projects are student-led, with students taking part in planning and reflection alongside their teachers.
Edgewood has earned a Blue Ribbon distinction in 2025, State School of Distinction honors in both 2023-24 and 2024-25 and National School of Character recognition in 2019 and 2024.
