Suspect dies following chase, crash with Kenosha police; incident under investigation
KENOSHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Wisconsin Department of Justice (DOJ) Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI) is investigating a death of a person following a police chase and crash on Wednesday, April 8.
According to the DOJ, Kenosha police responded to reports of a shooting incident. Officers found a car matching the description of the suspect vehicle. A chase started and the suspect car drove off.
The suspect car hit another car while driving north on Sheridan Road near HWY 158. The driver succumbed to injuries at the scene. No one else was hurt.

A woman that lives nearby tells CBS 58 she heard the crash happen.
“I’ve never heard an impact that hard in my life and I knew the outcome of it was going to be tragic," Mimi Miles said. "I just wanted to do anything I could, you know, to help anyone in that type of situation. By the time we got down there, police and paramedics were already on the scene."
The involved officers were placed on administrative leave, per department policy.
DCI is leading the investigation and is assisted by the Kenosha Police Department, Wisconsin State Crime Lab, Wisconsin State Patrol, and Kenosha County Medical Examiner.
