RACINE COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) --Video shows a freeway chase through Kenosha and Racine counties Tuesday night -- a pursuit that officials say reached extremely high speeds.
Racine County deputies used stop sticks near Highway 11 to slow down an SUV reported stolen in Chicago. They say the driver was traveling more than 130 miles per hour and weaving through all lanes of traffic.
The stop sticks slowed the SUV and as the driver attempted to get onto I-94 southbound, deputies used a PIT maneuver to finally stop the vehicle. The driver and passenger tried to run but were taken into custody after a Racine County sheriff's deputy mentioned deploying K-9 Simba.
The sheriff's office says the driver, 22-year-old Joseph Torres of Milwaukee, had a suspended license. He was held on several charges, including operating a vehicle without consent and fleeing and eluding. The passenger, an 18-year-old, was taken into custody on a probation hold.
