Downtown Waukesha Construction Means Modified Memorial Day Parade Route

People who are going to attend Monday's Memorial Day events in Waukesha should be aware the parade route has been modified due to construction.

A memorial ceremony is planned to start at 8 a.m. next to the Fox River outside of the Lee Sherman Dreyfus State Office Building.

But after that - for spectators - the parade route is a little different than what it's been in the past.

The parade will avoid most of downtown Waukesha's construction riddled roads. Instead marchers will walk the road closest to the Fox River - known as River Plaza - before circling back to the ending spot at Cutler Park just north of the public library.

One of the main issues for people might be getting parking close to the start of the parade route. Workers at businesses downtown say their rule of thumb is leave early enough to give yourself time to search.

Following the parade the Waukesha Civic Band will be performing in Culter Park at 11 a.m.
